What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells made from porcelain, a type of ceramic. They are only applied to visible teeth in the smile line and aren't used on the back teeth. For decades, porcelain veneers have been used to disguise stained, broken, and misshapen teeth.

How long does it take to get porcelain veneers?

The average time required for treatment is about 2 weeks at most dental practices. However, at Atrium Dental, we can make your veneers the same-day thanks to our cutting-edge CEREC technology. Before you start the process, we’ll remove a small amount of enamel - if needed - and take 3D scans of your teeth. These scans are used to create a lifelike model of your teeth. Your veneers are then made on-site and are fitted and bonded onto the natural teeth in the same visit.

Will porcelain veneers make my teeth whiter?

Porcelain veneers help correct minor tooth problems, such as small gaps between teeth, uneven tooth surfaces and discolouration. Porcelain veneers will not make your natural teeth whiter, however they will cover up yellow or stained teeth so that only the beautiful white veneers are on show! Veneers come in multiple tooth-coloured shades, so you can select a whiter shade than your natural teeth if you're looking to brighten your smile.

If you'd like your natural teeth to be a whiter or brighter shade, we may recommend tooth whitening as a solution.
