Dental Implants at Atrium Dental

A Dental Implant is a perfect solution if you are missing one tooth or multiple teeth. A Dental Implant can be used to support the most natural looking tooth replacement and can dramatically improve your smile, eating and confidence.

Dental Implant is a small but strong titanium post used in place of a missing tooth root. Dental Implants can be used for a wide range of treatment: one implant can replace a single missing tooth, two implants can secure a loose denture, or multiple implants can be used to replace all the teeth in the mouth.

Missing teeth?

Missing teeth can be a problem for your dental health and your own personal well-being. Dental Implants can be used in a variety of situations to help replace missing teeth.

Here at Atrium Dental, we will be able to help replace your missing teeth to restore your smile and improve your confidence, however your teeth came to be missing. A Dental Implant replaces the root of a tooth and it can be used to hold the visible part of the tooth, known as the crown. A single Dental Implant is needed to replace a single tooth, but not every missing tooth needs to have an implant beneath it – a bridge can be used, supported by several dental implants, to replace many teeth.

Your Dental Implant
treatment journey

Your Dental Implant treatment journey starts with a FREE initial Consultation. This should provide you with a good understanding of what treatment will involve, the various orthodontic treatment options and an initial guide to costs.

Assessment and Treatment Plan

Following your FREE initial Consultation, if you have decided to proceed with Dental Implant treatment, we will then undertake an in-depth clinical examination which typically includes x-rays as well as taking pictures of your teeth.

Following your clinical examination, we will create a bespoke Treatment Plan which we will present to you. This will provide you with all the information you need including Dental Implant treatment options and our recommendation as well as costs so that you can decide whether you would like to proceed.

Dental Implant Treatment - phase 1

First, the Dental Implant is placed in the jaw under local anaesthetic. The Dental Implant then needs to integrate fully with the jawbone. This process usually takes 3 months. It is possible to wear temporary dentures or bridges during the healing period.

Dental Implant Treatment - phase 2

Once the jaw has healed, the Dental Implant are uncovered, and impressions can then be taken and sent off to the laboratory to construct a custom-made crown or bridge that matches the natural teeth. Following this, your new replacement teeth are attached to the Dental Implant.

Part of your ongoing examination appointments will be checking for any issues and making sure the Dental Implants are ok.

Dental Implant FAQ's

How long will my Dental Implant last?
If looked after correctly, Dental Implants will last for many decades. We use the Ankylos Dental Implant system which has proved to often last a lifetime, achieving fantastic results for most of our patients.
How do I look after my Dental Implants?
For most Dental Implant-supported teeth you will be able to clean around each supporting Dental Implant by brushing and flossing in just the same way that you would around your own teeth. For the first few months after the Dental Implants are placed, your dentist may ask to see you more frequently to monitor your cleaning and the implants. Once your dentist is satisfied your treatment is performing as planned, ongoing care will be the same as for patients with natural teeth.
Will I a need a bone graft?
Bone grafting is a surgical procedure that uses transplanted bone to repair and rebuild diseased or damaged bones. If required, we will discuss this procedure with you in detail at your initial appointment. We also offer (with Edward) the Shatkin Dental Implant system which can be used where there is minimal bone, and the patient does not want or cannot have a graft.
Are Dental Implants right for me?
The most important visit is the initial consultation where we will ask a series of questions regarding your previous dental and medical histories. This will help us determine whether Dental Implants are the best option for you.
Am I suitable for Dental Implants?
If you are in good general health, Dental Implants are likely to be a suitable option for the replacement of your missing teeth. However, habits such as heavy drinking and smoking can compromise the initial healing time and have a detrimental effect on the long-term health of gum and bone surrounding each implant.
Do you offer finance to help spread the cost of treatment?
Yes, we are able to provide finance payment facilities to help you spread the cost. If you would like to understand more about these options, then please get in touch.
