Teeth whitening treatments include options for in-chair and at-home whitening to meet your needs in terms of both time and budget.

No matter which treatment option you choose, you can be assured that we only use high-quality whitening agents for safe use and a brighter smile!

At-Home Whitening

Whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home. At-home whitening offers you the ultimate control over your final shade and the time it takes to get there.

At-home teeth whitening is a treatment that uses hydrogen peroxide and/or carbamide peroxide gel to "bleach" your teeth. During your dental appointment, your dentist will take scans to create a bleaching tray similar to a clear gum shield.

Once your whitening trays are made, you'll be ready to have them fitted. At this appointment, we'll show you how to safely use your teeth whitening gel and achieve the best results. At Atrium Dental we use Boutique Whitening™. Boutique Whitening™ is the industry standard for at-home whitening and is well-known for its custom-strength solutions.

Philips Zoom In-Chair Whitening

If you want whiter teeth and want them NOW, in-chair teeth whitening might be the option you're looking for!

Just like home-whitening, in-chair teeth whitening uses hydrogen peroxide and/or carbamide peroxide gel to "bleach" your teeth. During your appointment, we use a more potent bleaching agent that can be used safely under the care of your dentist.

In-chair whitening takes just 90 minutes, so you can leave our dental practice immediately with your brand new smile. As part of your treatment, you'll also have a home whitening kit to top up your treatment as and when you feel the need.

Phillips Zoom White-Speed is a popular, long-lasting teeth whitening device. This product promises quality results in just one use.

The Phillips Zoom tooth whitening procedure combines a whitening gel with a unique LED accelerator, to get great and quick results. The process removes any stains (caused by ageing, certain foods and beverages, or even some medication) and it can whiten teeth up to 6 shades lighter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients are used in teeth whitening?

The most common ingredients used to whiten teeth are hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. We use a lower peroxide concentration in our at-home kits for safety or a higher peroxide concentration for the in-chair procedure for faster results.

What causes yellowing of teeth?

Tooth discolouration is a natural part of ageing. Over time, teeth often become yellow due to gradual and unnoticeable staining. Your natural tooth shade might also be down to genetics. Other causes of stained teeth are smoking, drinking coffee or tea, and eating foods which contain tannins like berries.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Teeth Whitening has undergone significant progress in recent years. Newer and more advanced formulas and techniques are available, making this a safe procedure and more effective than ever. Making this a safer and more effective than ever. The GDC states that only dentists may prescribe tooth whitening for your safety. Anyone offering tooth whitening that is not a dentist (or a registered DCP working under the prescription of a dentist) is practising illegally. More details can be found here.

I have sensitive teeth; can I still whiten my teeth?

Thanks to recent advancements, it is now possible to whiten your teeth even if you live with sensitivity. In-chair whitening uses a higher concentration of peroxide, which contributes to sensitivity issues, so, in this case, we may recommend at-home whitening. If your teeth become sensitive, you can also take a break from your whitening regime and use toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth to help with symptoms.

Does teeth whitening have any side effects?

You might experience minor sensitivity after the initial treatment, but this should be mild and temporary. We may not recommend tooth whitening in certain circumstances, so It is essential to have a comprehensive consultation before receiving treatment.

What is the main advantage of whitening teeth at home?

As opposed to in-chair teeth whitening, home-based treatments allow you to completely control the results. With our recommended bleaching agent, you can gradually see changes over time and work towards your desired level of whiteness. This also comes with the added perk of increased discretion as friends and family will not necessarily notice a "sudden" difference.

What is the main advantage of in-chair power bleaching?

A primary advantage of this technique is time. If you're looking for a cosmetic dentistry procedure that offers instant results, this may be your preferred choice. A simple 90-minute session will leave you with remarkably brighter teeth.
